The Competition Ends – The Winners and Runners-up Announced!

Attending the official ceremony on May 25th, the two winners of the 2016 ‘Give It Your Best Shot: Australia – Southwest China Sister-City Photo Competition’ are now eagerly awaiting their long anticipated trips to each other’s regions.

Australian winner, David Sickerdick of Mildura, took the Australian grand prize with his iconic and touching image of a fire-lit camping trip in the great outdoors. Lachlan Healy, also from Mildura, was the Australian runner-up, capturing a fantastic dawn image of a tractor and dusty paddock in the region of Ouyen.

Chinese winner, Luo Xing (罗星)  of Chongqing, took the Chinese grand prize with his stunning image of Chongqing during the new year celebrations. The Chinese runner-up, Yang Haotian (杨昊天) amazed the judges with his beautiful and thought provoking image of a monk against a dark background.

During the ceremony, Australian Ambassador in China, Jan Adams, officially closed the competition, announcing its success in closing the gap between Australia and China.

The huge number of photographs entered into the competition show the all facets of local life of the participating regions. From the stunning lakeside views of Kunming, to the adorable wildlife of Fraser Coast, each entry depicts not only the vision of a stunning region, but also insights into the photographers’ lives.

With an activity packed, 7 week trip to China’s beautiful southwest up for grabs, there has never been a better opportunity for you to show the world your photographic talent and win some amazing prizes while you’re at it!

Selected entrants will be invited to  have their work displayed in a public exhibition in China and Australia. Every entrant will also have their work displayed to Fotor’s massive photographic community, allowing anyone to be inspired and delighted by each other’s unique photographic styles.

Entering its third week, the 2016 ‘Give It Your Best Shot: Australia – Southwest China Sister-City Photo Competition’ has reached over 10,000 extraordinary photos! As more continue to stream in by the second, the unique character of the participating regions is exposed through each user’s individual photographic style.

As these images are displayed to the world, photo enthusiasts are ‘collecting’ the most popular photos, adding them to their virtual galleries. The most popular of these photos will be shortlisted, placing them in the running to win the prize.

As the competition enters its second week, the flood of images from both China and Australia show the shared characteristics of each sister-city. The sister-cities of Fraser Coast and Leshan both sport stunning natural scenery and landscape, reflected in the amazing photographs submitted. The photos from these regions also depict elements of the local residents’ lives and culture.

Officially launching on Monday, the 2016 ‘Give It Your Best Shot: Australia – Southwest China Sister-City Photo Competition’ has already exceeded 3800 local photos – with more flooding in by the second!

Gold Coast – Chengdu Twin-City Photo Competition Now Open!

Don’t miss out! Get your camera out and about around Gold Coast! We are looking for great photos that showcase your region to your Chinese twin-city Chengdu.  Enter online for your chance to share in a paid trip to Chengdu in China and other great prizes.
